Money gifts are generally treated the same as any other, though it is generally the case that you do not
mention the exact amount. Also, if you have a particular item you intend to buy with the money, you should
include that in your note. For example: "I have been craving a massage but would never treat myself to such
an extravagance…thanks to your gift, I have an appointment for next week!".
As with all thank you notes, get them as quickly as possible – hopefully within a couple of weeks, at the most.
